We have performed a series of numerical simulations and developed an analytic model of how the significance of absorption features as seen by the BATSE Spectroscopy Detectors (SDs) varies as the continuum and line parameters are changed. Both the simulations and model predict that the significance of lines depends approximately on the square of the signal-to-noise, the square of the equivalent width of the line, and the inverse of the natural width of the line.
