Biography

Dr. Krumpe studied physics at the University of Potsdam, Germany and specialized in astrophysics, as well as in satellite construction at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. During his studies, he spent one year abroad at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The subject of his dissertation was on “X-ray and optical properties of radio-quiet X-ray luminous active galactic nuclei,” and he received his degree in 2008 from the Astrophysical Institute Potsdam, Germany. Since April 2008, Dr. Krumpe has been working as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, San Diego.

Research Interests

Cosmic X-rays, high-energy astrophysics

Projects

Items of current active interest include trying to understand how X-ray emitting active galactic nuclei co-evolve with their host galaxies and how the X-ray absorption in type II AGN evolves with redshift.
